Press Brake Machine

Press Brake Machine

2025-08-26

Main Components:

  • Frame – The main body that supports the entire machine.

  • Ram – The moving part that drives the punch down.

  • Punch – The top tool that presses into the metal.

  • Die – The bottom tool that shapes the bend.

  • Back Gauge – A mechanical stopper to position the metal accurately.

  • Control System – Manual, CNC, or hydraulic control to manage movements and angles.

Types of Press Brake Machines:

  1. Mechanical Press Brake
Uses a flywheel and clutch system – fast but less flexible.

  2. Hydraulic Press Brake
Uses hydraulic cylinders – more precise and powerful; good for thick metal.

  3. Servo-Electric Press Brake
Uses motors instead of hydraulics – clean, energy-efficient, and accurate.

  4. Pneumatic Press Brake
Uses air pressure – suitable for light-duty applications.

Common Bending Techniques:

  • Air Bending – The punch doesn't touch the bottom of the die; allows for angle flexibility.

  • Bottom Bending – The punch presses metal into the bottom of the die for more accuracy.

  • Coining – High pressure flattens the metal into the die; very precise but tool-intensive.

Advantages of Using a Press Brake:

  • High precision in bending

  • Suitable for mass production

  • Can bend complex shapes

  • Programmable (CNC models) for repeatability
